I found the T16 to be an
excellent training tool for use with our SWAT team, and I see that it will also
prove advantageous to add into our patrol training programs. There is no
substitute for force on force training incorporated with realistic scenarios. We
have incorporated simunition weapons in our exercises for years. A problem we
have had is that officers assigned long guns (M-16's or AR-15's) have not been
able to develop the proper muscle memory instincts or fire rounds during force
on force training. The T16 has resolved this training deficiency.
The T16 is a realistic replica of the M-16. It is capable of be accessorized
with some (not all) attachments used on the real guns. It gives the user the
feeling of handling the weapon they will use on duty. The T16 lacks the selector
switch as the functions are battery controlled and operated by small buttons. I
did not find this to be a problem as the training scenarios are "hot" situations
where the officers should go in with weapons hot.
The T16 looses accuracy at
distances: this is not a training problem for us as it is accurate enough for
our training needs. The velocity of the paint balls is adjustable. I find a
little bit of a sting if shot is good for pain penalty lessons that may later
save an officer's life. The price is the only barrier to equipping our PD with
T16's for training.

I able granted the chance to
test a paintball gun from T16. This gun looks and feels like a M4. The gun
performed very well and it was a great tool during our training exercises. The
velocity of this gun is very high, so the paintballs come firing out. The
buttstock was nice since it is adjustable.
My downside to this gun is that there is a screw coming from the buttstock,
which should be flush. I found that to be quite annoying for the meat between my
thumb and first finger. Also the handle seemed a bit thick. Also didn't care for
the little knob on the foregrip of the gun. This gun should ship with two mags
and two tanks to limit down time.
A couple of questions I would have which was not stated anyway are:
1. How many rounds does a magazine hold?
2. How do I change the velocity?
This is a big improvement over the tradition paintball guns and I recommend it
to any agency looking at new training weapons.
